Wayne Roye’s role is to ensure that the client’s internal IT team is equipped to meet the growing technology demands. He provides high-level oversight of operations to ensure a company is profitable and scalable through technology.

Wayne is responsible for drawing the line between what the Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can provide and what areas the existing internal IT teams can focus and remain competent in.

1. Aligning Outsource IT’s Strategic Value to a Client’s Company

Wayne is responsible for differentiating the firm from both traditional Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and internal-only IT departments. This involves:

  1. Strategic Alignment: Moving beyond simple break-fix to focus on IT roadmapping, budget planning, and technology adoption (e.g., advising on large-scale Azure or Microsoft 365 migrations).
  2. Talent as a Service: Selling the firm’s service as access to specialized, certified experts (e.g., security engineers, Azure architects) that the client couldn’t afford or find locally.
  3. Risk Mitigation: Positioning the service as a way to reduce liability and IT burnout for the client’s internal staff by offloading tedious but critical tasks like patch management and compliance documentation.

2. Financial and Operational Leadership

Given the fixed-fee nature of most managed services, financial modeling is critical.

  • Predictable Pricing Models: Developing and enforcing fixed-fee pricing structures that account for the scope creep inherent in co-managed relationships while remaining profitable.
  • Scalability for Growth: Building operational processes and tools (e.g., standardized remote monitoring and management (RMM) platforms) that allow the firm to scale its services efficiently across multiple New York-based clients without sacrificing service quality.
  • Service Level Agreements (SLAs) & Governance: Ensuring that the Co-Managed framework has crystal-clear governance regarding responsibility—defining precisely where the client’s internal team ends and the MSP’s support begins—to prevent disputes and “finger-pointing.”
